Ranma 1/2 Resources For Fanfic Writers

These are the references I use for my own Ranma 1/2 fanfics; they help me write stories with as few inconsistencies as possible. There's information on storylines I haven't read, episodes I haven't seen, as well as some materials I've collected for my own benefit. Maybe you'll find them helpful, too.

(For samples of what I've written, check out my other pages on dougmacd.net.)

Stuff I've Collected

Tendo House
A sketch of the Tendo compound and floorplan with all the rooms labeled.
Character Heights
I don't think there are any canon heights for the Ranma characters, but using a character design sheet from the third Ranma movie, I put together a reasonable approximation.

Other Resources

People, Places, and Things
Short of a translation, this is the best source for Ranma information. It's a thoroughly cross-referenced list of the characters, Jusenkyo springs, magical objects, and martial arts appearing in Ranma. Also, differences between the manga and anime are presented. The only drawback is that it's old (last updated in 1994), so it doesn't contain information on the end of the manga, or the latest OAVs.
Ranma 1/2 FAQ
Here, the above information has been boiled down, and the author presents likely answers for your questions on such things as the Amazon marriage laws and Jusenkyo curses. Unfortunately, finding what you want be difficult. Amazon laws are listed under Places and Objects, for example.
FFML Resources Guide
This site is a large, somewhat cluttered collection of links to sites that can be useful for fanfic authors. There are also link to the Fanfic Mailing List, and homepages of many fanfic authors.
The Penultimate Ranma Fanfic Index
Want a list of just about every Ranma 1/2 fanfiction on the web? Check out Rakhal's website: he's put together synopses, links, and author e-mail addresses. There is no search feature, but you can use your browser to Find the name or title you want on the author listing page.
